Union High School’s Jamauri Bogan has interest from top schools all around the country, but the Scarlet Knights have yet to extend an offer to New Jersey’s 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year.  So, what’s the holdup?

“That’s a good question,” said the tailback with a laugh.  “Actually, they came yesterday to see me to talk to me and my coach.  It was coach [Joe] Rossi.  He just came by to see where everything is at, we didn’t talk too much because I was in class but he talked to my coaches for a bit.”

Bogan currently holds offers from Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, Temple, Toledo, and UMass.  On top of that, he has serious interest from schools like Arkansas, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, UCLA, Virginia, and Boston College.  The junior admits that he is somewhat disappointed to not have RU amongst his offers.

“A little bit, you know.  You hope to see that from your home school but I think that’s just part of the recruiting process.  I don’t take that sort of thing personally anymore,” said the 5-foot-7, 162 pound running back.

The tailback was on top of the world in 2011 as he ran away with the top individual award in the state of New Jersey.  However, he was held back by injury in his follow up campaign.

“Sophomore year I had a great year.  This year I hurt my ankle and I missed a big chunk of the season.  Considering the injury I had, I think it went well.  I played in all of the games but I was more of like a decoy,” Bogan explained.

Despite not having an offer from Rutgers just yet, Bogan says that he’s still quite high on the program.

“It’s in New Jersey, so I want to have my family come there and watch me.  It would be great if I could be a part of it.  It’s our state school so it’ll always have a place in my heart.”
